The GMC 2500 is always ready to work. All trim levels come standard with a 6.6L V-8 gas engine that produces 401 horsepower and generates 464 lb-ft of torque. If you’re looking for more power, you can choose the available 6.6L Duramax Turbo-Diesel V-8, which creates a robust 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque.

The GMC 2500 comes with a six-speed heavy-duty electronically controlled automatic transmission. At any trim, you can select the available Allison 10-speed automatic transmission. The available traction select system allows you to choose from four drive modes and a fifth off-road mode.

The Ford F-250 is available in six trims. All except the Limited come with a 6.2L SOHC two-valve flex-fuel V-8 engine that generates 385 horsepower and gets 430 lb-ft of torque. For additional power you can choose the available 6.7L power stroke V-8 turbo-diesel engine, which produces 475 horsepower with 1,050 lb-ft of torque.

All Ford F-250 trims, except the Limited, have an available 7.3L 2V DEVCT NA PFI V-8 engine that generates 430 horsepower and gets 475 lb-ft of torque. Ford’s F-250 comes with a TorqShift-G six-speed automatic with SelectShift automatic transmission. It also has an available TorqShift 10-speed automatic transmission with selectable drive modes.

Performance and Capabilities

The 2022 GMC 2500 comes in crew, double, and regular cab styles, and each (except for the AT4 and Denali) is available in two- and four-wheel drive. The max conventional trailering is 18,500 lbs, and the max payload is 3,862 lbs. The F-250, on the other hand, can tow up to 22,800 lbs with the 6.7L V-8 engine. It has a max payload of up to 4,260 lbs.

Interior Features

Ride comfortably with the GMC 2500’s 10-way power driver seat with power lumbar, available in the SLE and standard in the SLT and above. The elevated driver’s seat gives you a sweeping view of the road ahead. You can also enjoy 43 inches of headroom and 44.5 inches of legroom, compared to the F-250’s 40.8 inches of headroom and 43.9 inches of maximum legroom.

The 8-inch premium GMC infotainment system, available in the SLE and standard in the SLT and AT4, includes navigation in the Denali. The GMC 2500 has a Bose premium sound system available in the SLT and AT4 trims and standard in the Denali. Depending on the trim, you can enjoy automatic climate control and a heated steering wheel. Some trims include Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and wireless charging is also available.

The Ford F-250 includes FordPass connect with a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. It offers dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control, standard at the Lariat trim level. It has a 2.3-inch to 8-inch instrument cluster productivity screen, depending on the trim. This truck offers 100-volt/400-watt outlets mounted on the dash and rear side of the flow-through console, depending on the trim level. A wireless charging pad is available in some trims.

Regarding seating, the Ford F-250 offers an available front eight-way driver’s seat with lumbar support. Some trim levels include a 10-way power driver and eight-way power passenger seats. The upper trims add driver’s seat memory. A heated front driver and passenger seat are available at the XLT trim, and the King Ranch trim and above include ventilation.

Exterior Features

The 2022 GMC 2500 includes cargo bed LED lighting, available in the Pro and SLE trims and standard at the SLT and above. It has standard LED daytime running lamps, along with LED fog lamps standard in the SLT and above. This truck can power your adventure with a 120-volt box-mounted power outlet in the pickup bed, available in the Pro and SLE trims and standard in the SLT and above. It also has a power sunroof available in the SLT and above.

The 2022 GMC 2500 introduces a six-function MultiPro tailgate. The primary gate opens using the key fob or gate button, and you can use the load stop to prevent items from sliding out of the bed. To help you load and unload, you can fold down the inner gate. You can also fold the inner gate into a step or use it as a convenient work surface.

The GMC 2500 also outshines the Ford F-250 in cargo bed volume, offering up to 83.5 cubic ft with the long bed compared to 78.5 cubic ft with the F-250 eight-foot box.

The Ford F-250 includes quad dual-beam halogen headlamps at all trim levels except the Platinum and Limited, which have quad-beam LED headlamps. This truck comes with halogen fog lamps in the Lariat and King Ranch trims and LED fog lamps in the Platinum and Limited. The Limited includes a power moonroof, which is available in the XLT through Platinum trims.

Safety Features

The GMC 2500 includes a rear vision camera in all models, with high-definition standard in the Denali. It has an available three years of OnStar and connected services plan. This truck has a teen driver feature, which lets you customize your truck’s settings to keep your teens focused and safe on the road.
