2021 GMC Terrain

The 2021 Terrain is available in four trims: SL, SLE, SLT, and Denali. Lower trims have simpler designs, while the Denali has a flashier exterior including a more prominent grille and front bumper. All trims have highly stylized headlights with LED accents. The two middle trims have an available Elevated Edition package, which adds black 19-inch alloy wheels and blacked-out accents.

The 2021 GMC Terrain has two engine options, although most trims offer the standard one. This 1.5-liter inline-four engine produces 170 horsepower, while the other engine found on the Denali trim is a 2.0-liter turbo-four that makes 252 horsepower. Both engines are mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. The SUV comes standard with front-wheel drive, but it's available with all-wheel drive.

When outfitted with the base engine and front-wheel drive, the Terrain gets an EPA-estimated 25 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. Switching over to all-wheel drive drops the mileage on the highway to 28 mpg. With the 2.0-liter engine and front-wheel drive, the SUV gets 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, while those with all-wheel drive get 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. Also, when properly configured, the Terrain can tow a maximum of 3,500 pounds.

Five people can sit comfortably in this two-row SUV. Cloth upholstery comes standard, but you can opt for leather upholstery. Other available add-ons include ventilated, power-adjustable, and heated front seats as well as a heated steering wheel and heated rear outboard seats.

When it comes to cargo capacity, the Terrain has 29.6 cubic feet of space behind the second-row seats and 63.3 cubic feet of space behind the front row. These numbers are about average when compared to other vehicles in its class. However, you can fold down the front passenger seat so you can easily transport longer items. To keep you and your passengers connected, the SUV comes with GMC's IntelliLink infotainment system. Its user-friendly 7-inch touch-screen display has crisp graphics and responds quickly. Other standard features include four USB ports, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, as well as Amazon Alexa, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity. Available upgrades include an 8-inch touch-screen display, navigation, wireless device charging, HD and satellite radio, and a rear-seat infotainment system.

The 2021 GMC Terrain doesn't mess around when it comes to safety as it has almost a dozen standard safety features. Some of these features include automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, and a following distance indicator. The SUV also has GM's Teen Driver system, which lets you set audio and speed limits for secondary drivers. Selecting the SLE trim gives you the Pro Safety Plus package, which features blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, and rear cross-traffic alert.
