2021 GMC Canyon

The Canyon Elevation Standard is the base trim. It comes with 18-inch wheels and a locking tailgate, while the Elevation has a sliding rear window, LED fog lights, and a remote locking tailgate. The new AT4 adds unique 17-inch wheels, off-road tires, an off-road suspension, and a transfer case shield. At the top of the Canyon lineup, the Denali comes with 20-inch wheels, a spray-in bed liner, unique exterior trim elements, and the trailering package.

Power for the base Canyon comes from a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine that puts out 200 horsepower and works with GMC's six-speed automatic transmission. The rest of the lineup gets a 3.6-liter V-6 engine that develops 308 horsepower. A turbodiesel engine is another option for most trims. It's a 2.8-liter four-cylinder with an impressive 369 pound-feet of torque and 181 horsepower.

The base engine is ideal for running around town and light work, but the 3.6-liter and the turbodiesel have the extra power you need for bigger jobs. When equipped with the turbodiesel, the Canyon can tow up to 7,700 pounds and handle up to 1,605 pounds in the bed. The new AT4 trim has the equipment to take you off-road, and when on the road, any model provides a smooth and comfortable ride.

There's room for either four or five people in the Canyon, depending on the cab type. The seats are spacious and comfortable, with vinyl upholstery in the base trims. A step up from the base to the Elevation gets you a leather-wrapped steering wheel and cloth upholstery, and a bump up to the Denali gets you leather upholstery, a six-way power-adjustable driver's seat, a power-adjustable passenger seat, and heated and ventilated front seats. The Elevation offers the High Elevation Package with black leather front seats, a power lumbar adjustment for the driver's seat, and a heated steering wheel.

Technology features start with a 7-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, a six-speaker stereo system, and both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Elevation adds an 8-inch touch screen and a Wi-Fi hot spot, and additional tech features that GMC makes available depending on the trim include USB ports, navigation, wireless charging, HD radio, and an upgraded seven-speaker Bose stereo system.

Every Canyon comes standard with a rearview camera and the Teen Driver system that allows the primary driver to set certain limits for other drivers. The Elevation and the AT4 offer the option for the Driver Alert Package with rear park assist, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning. If you bump up to the Denali makes these safety features standard.
